The power crisis in Karnataka will ease considerably with the third unit of the Bellary Thermal Power Station (BTPS) generating 700 MW. The foundation stone for the unit, with an estimated cost of Rs 3,750 crore, was laid in May 2009, with the work commencing in September 2010.
