Adani Green Brings 139 MW Khavda Solar Plant Online

Adani Green Energy Limited, through its step-down subsidiary Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A Limited, has operationalized a 139 Megawatt (MW) solar power project at Khavda in Gujarat. The company said this increases its total operational renewable generation capacity to 20,280.80 MW and its operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity to 3,551 MWh. The Khavda addition forms part of a broader commissioning drive across the group.

During the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, the group included capacities of over 10 Gigawatt (GW) of solar, wind and hybrid assets and stated it is on track to add around five GW of greenfield capacity in the current year. The firm also reported commissioning around one point nine GW of battery energy storage capacity at Khavda. These measures were presented as part of operational scaling to meet contracted offtake and merchant requirements.

Company executives outlined that approximately four GW of generation capacity has been contracted and that a shift in classification of several projects to commercial and industrial portfolio was underway to reflect long-term agreements. Management described a de-risking approach that emphasises robust project execution and the use of arm's-length transactions subject to board approval to ensure contracted capacity and predictable returns. The firm indicated that these arrangements are intended to reduce exposure to related-party risks.

Executives added that early commissioning of assets has provided benefits from inter-state transmission system and approved list of models waivers, while cautioning that the long-term impact of such advantages over the next 25 years remains difficult to predict. The company said it will continue to pursue timely execution and contractual clarity to insulate returns for investors. The Khavda project therefore represents both an operational milestone and a component of a wider strategy to scale renewable supply and storage capabilities across India.
