Bajel Projects Gets Rs. 2-3 bn Tata Power Order

Bajel Projects has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order from Tata Power for substation works in Mumbai, strengthening its presence in the power transmission and distribution segment. The contract is valued between Rs. 2 bn and Rs. 3 bn, including Goods and Services Tax, and has been classified as a major order under the company’s project classification policy.

The project covers the supply and installation of a 220 kilovolt (kV) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation at the Salsette receiving station. It also includes a 220 kV outdoor GIS substation at the Powai receiving station. The company said execution would be completed over 18 months from the date of issuance of the purchase order.

The order relates to domestic substation works and falls within Bajel Projects’ ordinary course of business. Under the company’s classification policy, contracts valued between Rs. 2 bn and Rs. 3 bn are treated as major orders. Bajel Projects also disclosed that its promoters, promoter group and group companies have no interest in Tata Power, the entity awarding the contract.

The Mumbai contract follows an ultra-mega transmission line order secured by Bajel Projects in August. That package, valued at more than Rs. 6 bn, was awarded under the WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme - Part A. Identified as TL05, it involves the construction of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Raigarh (Tamnar), Raigarh (Kotra) and Dharamjaygarh in Chhattisgarh.

The two orders expand Bajel Projects’ project pipeline across high-voltage transmission and substation infrastructure. The Mumbai assignment also adds to the company’s urban power infrastructure portfolio, supporting receiving and distribution capacity in a major metropolitan area. The projects are aligned with the company’s focus on domestic transmission and distribution work.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions. The sector had implemented similar rate adjustments of Rs. 10-15 per bag during the first quarter, but the increases were insufficient to cover higher operating costs. Prices also softened during July and August because of the monsoon, wid..
