NTPC Mouda Begins Installation Of One Point Four MW Solar Plant

NTPC Mouda in Nagpur began the installation of solar panels for a one point four megawatt (MW) ground-mounted solar power plant on 24 June 2026, marking a key milestone in its renewable energy programme. The commencement follows detailed planning and project preparations at the station and signals a tangible step towards augmenting the facility's clean energy capacity.

Work on the first panels started after completion of superstructure works, and a Pooja ceremony was organised at the project site to mark the occasion. The event was attended by Shri Joseph Bastian, Executive Director, NTPC Mouda, Shri S.C. Das, General Manager (O&M), senior NTPC officials and representatives of the Kirloskar team. The ceremony underscored operational collaboration between the utility and its equipment partner as installation works moved into the execution phase.

The project is being implemented in alignment with NTPC's long-term commitment to sustainable development and with the Government of India's vision of increasing the share of clean and green energy in the national energy mix. Once commissioned, the plant will support NTPC Mouda's ongoing efforts to integrate renewable energy into its operations and reduce reliance on conventional generation sources. The installation is expected to contribute to environmentally sustainable power generation at the station while demonstrating practical steps towards decarbonisation.

The commencement of panel installation represents an important step towards timely commissioning and operationalisation of the plant. NTPC's continued focus on adopting cleaner energy solutions is intended to support the nation's transition to a greener and more sustainable future. Project teams will proceed with subsequent stages of testing and commissioning to ensure the plant fulfils its intended role in the station's renewable energy portfolio.
