Schneider and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Collaborate

Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has partnered with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL) to transform Bihar’s power distribution network. This strategic collaboration aims to enhance grid connectivity, operational efficiency, and energy reliability, ensuring seamless power supply to consumers across the state.

A Landmark in Power Modernisation Bihar’s rising energy demand posed significant challenges for SBPDCL, necessitating urgent modernisation to ensure uninterrupted and efficient power distribution. Schneider Electric’s cutting-edge EcoStruxure Grid solutions have played a pivotal role in overcoming these challenges by integrating real-time monitoring, automation, and advanced grid management capabilities.

The impact of this collaboration has been substantial, yielding measurable improvements: 90% increase in power reliability Up to 80% reduction in energy consumption 60% cost savings on energy 70% optimisation in engineering cost and time

Key Deployments and Technological Advancements As part of the project, Schneider Electric has established: A State-of-the-Art Command-and-Control Centre and a Disaster Recovery Centre for real-time grid monitoring and decision-making. Deployment of 305 Ring Main Units (RMUs) to enhance power distribution reliability. Installation of 550 Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) on overhead lines to improve fault detection and response times.

This collaboration reaffirms Schneider Electric’s commitment to advancing India’s energy transition, fostering sustainable and resilient power distribution systems, and supporting nationwide infrastructural growth.
