SJVN Green Energy Commissions 1,000 MW Solar Plant In Bikaner

SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Navratna company Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited, has commissioned a 1,000 MW solar power plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project is now fully operational, marking a major addition to India’s utility-scale solar capacity.

The project, developed at an investment of around Rs 54.92 billion, will supply electricity to Rajasthan as well as other states. Under the power allocation arrangement, 500 MW of the generated power will be supplied to Rajasthan, while the remaining 500 MW will be transmitted outside the state, including 300 MW to Jammu and Kashmir and 200 MW to Uttarakhand, according to a senior official.

The solar plant has been executed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking scheme and the domestic content requirement mode, aimed at promoting the use of domestically manufactured solar equipment. The approach supports the government’s objective of strengthening local manufacturing while expanding clean energy capacity.

The commissioning of the Bikaner project reinforces SJVN Green Energy’s growing presence in the renewable energy sector and contributes to India’s broader goals of increasing solar power generation and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
