Swift Current Energy: $779M for 800 MW solar project

Swift Current Energy, a major U.S. renewable developer, secures $779M financing for the pioneering Double Black Diamond Solar project. This ambitious initiative boasts an 800 MWdc capacity, making it a leading single-phase solar venture in the country.

The funding includes $695M in construction and tax equity bridge loans, plus an $84M letter of credit facility, marking a significant milestone in the renewable sector. Expected to reduce carbon emissions by a million tons yearly and power over 100,000 households, the project near Springfield, Illinois, is set for completion and energization in 2024.

MUFG, Societe Generale, and Truist lead the financing, with support from Constellation, set to acquire energy and RECs. Notable beneficiaries like Chicago O'Hare and Midway airports, Cook County-Illinois, CVS Health, Loyola University of Chicago, and more have agreements for sustainable energy supply.
