Tata Power, VECV Partner to Boost EV Truck Adoption

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy, has signed a strategic partnership with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) to accelerate electric commercial vehicle adoption in India. The collaboration will initially focus on the newly launched Eicher Pro X range of small commercial vehicles.

Under the MoU, Tata Power will provide customised charging solutions using its EV charging network, while VECV will apply its expertise in energy efficiency to optimise electric truck usage. Both companies will jointly engage with Eicher Trucks and Buses customers to support the shift to electric mobility.

In a joint statement, they said: “This partnership will allow both companies to address range anxiety, charging infrastructure availability, and costs, while supporting deployment of other models in Eicher’s electric vehicle portfolio.”

Tata Power has built one of India’s largest charging ecosystems under its EZ Charge brand, with over 150,000 home chargers, more than 5,500 public, semi-public and fleet points, and 1,200 e-bus charging stations across 630 cities and towns. Its network, with over 400,000 registered users, covers highways, commercial complexes, depots, hotels, hospitals, offices and residential areas.

VECV, a joint venture of Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, manufactures Eicher trucks and buses in 40 countries, manages Volvo Buses India, distributes Volvo Trucks and exports engines for Volvo Group. Tata Power, part of Tata Group, operates 15.8 GW of capacity, including 7 GW of clean energy, serving 13 million customers, and targets net zero by 2045.
