UP Government to Install Solar-Powered Drinking Water Kiosks

The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a plan to establish solar-powered drinking water kiosks across multiple cities in the state. This initiative aims to provide clean, reliable drinking water while promoting the use of renewable energy.

The project involves installing solar panels at designated kiosks, which will power water purification systems and ensure a consistent supply of potable water. By utilising solar energy, the kiosks will reduce dependence on traditional power sources and contribute to environmental sustainability.

These kiosks will be strategically located in high-density areas and neighbourhoods where access to clean drinking water is limited. The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure and public health across Uttar Pradesh.

The government is currently seeking proposals from firms specialising in solar technology and water purification. The selected companies will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of these kiosks.

This move aligns with Uttar Pradesh's commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and embracing green technologies. The solar-powered kiosks are expected to play a significant role in improving water accessibility and supporting the state?s environmental goals.

Jyoti Structures FY26 profit rises 56.5%

VE Commercial Vehicles, a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, recorded sales of 7,318 units in April 2026, compared to 6,846 units in April 2025, registering 6.9 per cent growth.
