Here’s a woman who continues to break new ground. The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has appointed Alka Mittal as its Interim Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) for six months with effect from January 1, 2022 – or till the appointment of a regular incumbent to the post or until further order. Mittal, who has a postgraduate degree in economics and a doctorate in commerce, is the first woman to lead an oil and gas exploration and production firm. In November 2018, she had broken the glass ceiling in ONGC by becoming the first woman to join the firm's board. Mittal will superannuate in end August.
