Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President (SVP) India and Emerging Markets, Amazon India, helms the company which, in a landmark development, has become the first e-commerce company in the country to transport customer packages through inland waterways. Amazon India signed a MoU with Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) to use inland water transport for cargo shipment and as per this MoU, the two companies will work together to enable containerised cargo movement. Also, with this operation Amazon can now use all possible modes of transport in the country including rail, air, water and surface for faster, cost-effective, sustainable and more reliable delivery of customer packages and provide a wider reach to millions of sellers.
