Urban body to distribute 1,700 sites in Belgaum next year

In Karnataka, the Belgaum Urban Development Authority (BUDA) will distribute 1,700 sites at Kanbargi by June next year. Already the government has approved the project and a survey is also been conducted for the same. The 1,700 plots of five various dimension will be coming in 148 acre land. The notification for the proposed project conducted in the year 2007, but due to various reasons including acquisition problem the project was delayed but now it has picked up its momentum and by next year during this time the authorities will start distributing it.

Already 75 acre of land is in BUDA position and for the rest of the land already the process is going on. Among 148-acre land, 52 per cent will be for residential plots while the rest will be for other various purposes like drainage, water connection, road etc. Among 1700 plots, it will be distributed in five different dimensions like 417 plots for 20x35, 590 plots for 30x40, 211 plots for 30x50, 353 plots for 40x60 and 93 plots for 50x80.

Under the scheme, the urban body will collaborate with farmer or property owners for development of the new layout will enter into an agreement with the property owner to develop the layout and 40 per cent of sites will be given to the property owner. It was in 2007 BUDA distributed sites at Kumarswamy layout since then, that is for the past six years, they are yet to distribute sites to the people.

It is estimated that the proposed cost for the site will be Rs 700 to Rs 800 per sqft or Rs 7 to Rs 8 lakh per gunta.
