Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre (BIETC) campus in Bengaluru along with the Boeing Sukanya Programme.The state-of-the-art BIETC is built with an investment of `16 billion. It is located in a 43-acre campus and is the American aerospace major’s largest such investment outside the US. The company said that the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre will become a cornerstone for partnering with India on next generation products and services for the global aerospace and defence industry.The PM credited the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme for contributing to the rise in domestic air traffic and expressed optimism about India becoming a major player in the global aviation market.He emphasised upon India’s commitment to reducing offshore dependence on aircraft leasing even as he acknowledged India’s position as one of the world's largest domestic civil aviation markets, with a significant increase in volumes over the past decade.
