Bihar’s policy is not only aimed to benefit private buyers of electric vehicles (EVs) but also commercial vehicles like three-wheelers, four-wheelers (for carrying goods), buses and other transport vehicles. It is witnessing a revolutionary change in the road transport sector with the increasing use of electric vehicles. To increase the penetration of electric vehicles up to 15 per cent of all vehicle registrations across the state by 2028, Bihar has given a green signal to an EV policy for a period of five years. The policy, which focuses on creating a sustainable transport ecosystem, will be complemented by developing a robust network of charging stations across the state. It also aims to reduce dependence on traditional petrol and diesel-powered public transportation.
