The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) introduced an innovative service, ‘CarbonLite Metro Travel’, offering commuters real-time updates on CO2 emissions they prevent by using the metro. The effort underscores the role of metro travel in reducing carbon emissions over conventional road vehicles, supported by a study from The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). Replacing one kilometre of road travel with metro can cut 32.38 grams of CO2 emissions, contributing to India’s net-zero emissions goal by 2070.
