Madhu Nair, Chairman and Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard (CSL), heads the company which recently witnessed the inauguration of India’s largest (310-metre-long) and one-of-a-kind New Dry Dock (NDD) and an International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) of CSL, which will transform Kochi into a global maritime hub. With this dock and one of the largest marine infrastructures in the region, India’s shipbuilding and ship repair capabilities will take a quantum leap. It can accommodate an aircraft carrier of 70,000-tonne displacement. To put it in perspective, the INS Vikrant has a displacement of 45,000 tonnes. With this ship repair facility, built across 42 acres of land and its proximity to the international sea route, Kochi will become India's major ship repairing centre and India will become Asia’s largest ship repair centre.
