Vinay Kumar, Superintendent Engineer (projects), Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), said that the GVMC is putting all its efforts to complete the project by the deadline of June 2024. He said the objective of the smart cities project is to provide infrastructure, basic amenities as well as smart solutions that improve the quality of life of the people in the city. He said Visakhapatnam is one of the 20 smart cities identified by the Government in the first phase. The smart city project cost is Rs 10 billion with a 50:50 share of Union and state governments.
