Flyover to replace 6-lane plan on NH-2 in Hazaribag

In Jharkhand's Hazaribag, the hurdles, in converting the NH-2 (G T Road) into six lanes between ItkhoriMor to Barhi via Chouparan by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) have now been removed as the authorities have in principle agreed to construct a flyover and save the Chouparanhaat shopkeepers and market complex people from being displaced.

Former union minister and local MP Yashwant Sinha said the complex, where the proposal for constructing six lanes was made, is the biggest market as people from adjoining villages assemble at this haat for selling their products, mainly vegetables and foodgrains.

Sinha said that the business community of Chouparan Bazar and the farmers have already parted with their buildings and lands when it was acquired few years back at the time when the road was converted into four lanes from the then two lanes on this busy highway.

At that time the businessmen and the farmers were not willing to release further lands and space in the existing market for the proposed six lanes. They approached the local MP Yashwant Sinha to find a solution for the same.

Sinha said he had written to the chairman of the NHAI and other officials to inform them about the problems faced by them in constructing the 2 km long flyover between Hathia to Sijua stretch in the region and agreed in principle that they will consider the proposal given for solving the problems of both businessmen and farmers.

Sinha said NHAI authorities have accepted the proposal given by him and he thanked them for that. The Barhi MLA Uma Shankar Akela who led the delegation of the aggrieved persons to Sinha and NHAI authorities who was also present at the time of press conference expressed satisfaction as the major problem of the business and thefarming community of the belt have been solved.
