Odisha seeks Rs 559 cr compensation for houses

For construction of houses in the Phailin and flood-ravaged Berhampur city, The Odisha Housing and Urban Development Department has submitted a proposal of Rs 559 crore to the Union government.
The State government has sought an assistance of Rs 313 crore under the Rajeev Awas Yojana for rebuilding houses for the 13 seriously affected localities inhabited by slum dwellers.
Another Rs 246 crore has been sought by the State to provide sewerage, roads, streetlights and water supply for other areas which were devastated by cyclone Phailin and the subsequent floods.
