Stalled projects have now started coming back on line

Tell us about your JV with Zoomlion.
We have formed a JV company, Zoomlion Electromech India Pvt Ltd, and most products are manufactured in India, with part of the cranes coming from China. Our association with Zoomlion, the world´s largest company for tower cranes, has received immense interest from customers.

How do you view the market for construction equipment, especially cranes?
The past two to three years have been bad but stalled projects have now started coming back on line. Overall, the trend is a little bit flat or slightly positive. Precast concrete elements in high-rise constructions are trending, which requires bigger and heavier cranes at site as well as overhead or gantry cranes at the factory where these concrete elements are cast.

With a stable government in the centre, how are you gearing up for the coming opportunities?
There is definitely optimism in the market. Things have not moved to a great extent. We need to push the wave and really get it running. We are geared up for growth. We have enough capacities; with the quantities Zoomlion manufactures, we can easily cater to the Indian requirement in a jiffy.

From which segment do you get maximum demand right now?
For tower cranes, the requirement comes from the real-estate sector; followed by infrastructure projects like the power plants and dams. Geographically, the western and northern regions post high requirement for cranes, followed by the southern region.
