Housing Sales in Top Seven Cities Rise 3% to 100,000 Units

Housing sales across India’s seven major cities rose 3 per cent annually to 100,220 units during July-September 2026, supported by stronger demand in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Bengaluru and Hyderabad, according to real estate consultant Anarock. Sales stood at 97,080 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.

In value terms, sales increased 2 per cent to Rs. 1.55 tn from Rs. 1.52 tn a year earlier. The average residential property price across the seven cities rose 7 per cent annually. Anarock’s figures contrast with data from PropEquity, which showed sales falling 6 per cent to 103,000 units during the September quarter.

MMR recorded a 5 per cent increase in sales to 31,750 units from 30,260 units. Bengaluru reported a 12 per cent rise to 16,670 units from 14,835 units, while Hyderabad posted a 15 per cent increase to 12,970 units from 11,305 units.

Sales declined in the other four markets. Pune recorded a 6 per cent fall to 15,690 units, Delhi-NCR declined 1 per cent to 13,765 units, Chennai fell 10 per cent to 5,395 units and Kolkata decreased 4 per cent to 3,980 units. MMR and Bengaluru together accounted for 48 per cent of total sales in the seven cities during Q3 2026.

Developers launched approximately 114,320 housing units during the quarter, up 18 per cent from 96,690 units in Q3 2025. Anarock said the festive season could support residential demand, while industry executives attributed Bengaluru’s performance to its employment base, infrastructure development, premium housing demand and continued interest from high-net-worth individuals and end-users seeking long-term stability.
