L&T Wins Rs. 50 bn Orders for Delhi Secretariat and Amaravati Towers

Larsen & Toubro’s Public Spaces, Airports & Health (PAH) business vertical has secured two major construction orders from government agencies in New Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. The combined value of the orders is Rs. 50 bn, placing them within the company’s large-order category of Rs. 25 bn to Rs. 50 bn.

The first contract was awarded by the Central Public Works Department for the construction of the Government of India’s Common Central Secretariat buildings 4 and 5 along Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Larsen & Toubro will undertake structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works, along with external development activities.

Construction of the New Delhi project is scheduled for completion within 24 months. The contract also includes a five-year operation and maintenance period after construction is completed, extending the company’s involvement beyond the delivery of the buildings.

The second order was awarded by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for two office towers on either side of the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre in Amaravati. Larsen & Toubro will execute the shell and core works, with completion planned within 30 months. The towers will each comprise a basement, a ground floor and 47 floors, with a combined built-up area of 3.75 mn sq. ft.

The company said the orders reflected government agencies’ confidence in its ability to deliver complex public infrastructure projects. Its PAH vertical has worked on customised public spaces in India and overseas. Larsen & Toubro’s shares were largely unchanged during Wednesday’s intraday trading session, but had declined by more than 5 per cent over one month and over 9 per cent over six months.
