RMZ Awards Tata Projects Rs 6,702.4 mn Chennai Contract

RMZ has appointed Tata Projects Ltd to execute the main civil works for RMZ Infinity, a commercial office development in Porur, Chennai. The contract is valued at Rs 6,702.4 million (mn) for core and shell construction of the project. The development has been planned to serve multinational occupiers and Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

RMZ Infinity will comprise four office towers with a combined built-up area of three point five four million (mn) sq ft and a leasable area of two point nine four million (mn) sq ft across a 16.4-acre site. Each tower will include three basement levels, a ground floor and nine office floors. A separate utility building will have a ground floor and two upper floors.

As part of the agreement Tata Projects will undertake civil, structural and architectural works together with masonry, plastering, waterproofing and basement flooring. The scope also covers common-area finishes, installation of fire-rated doors, external finishing works and painting. The contract has been structured to ensure integrated delivery and adherence to quality and safety standards.

The development has been pre-certified under the US Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standard and is targeting WELL Gold certification for health and wellbeing. Design measures have been included to enhance sustainability and weather resilience while providing workplace amenities such as a social plaza, retail outlets and food and beverage facilities. Site connectivity is expected to improve further with the planned expansion of the Chennai Metro network ahead of project completion.

RMZ selected Tata Projects on the basis of its experience delivering large-scale urban infrastructure projects and the firms will coordinate engineering and construction to meet occupier requirements. Senior executives at both companies emphasised integrated planning, safety and sustainability as delivery priorities. The development forms part of RMZ's continued expansion in Chennai to augment Grade A office inventory for domestic and international occupiers.
