Udham Singh Nagar recorded the highest number of houses under the programme at 4,882, followed by Haridwar with 4,493 and Rudraprayag with 4,032. The government reported 3,900 houses in Chamoli, 3,386 in Pithoragarh, 3,195 in Pauri, 3,057 in Uttarkashi and 2,839 in Dehradun.

The remaining district-wise figures were 2,789 houses in Champawat, 2,279 in Bageshwar, 2,134 in Tehri, 1,480 in Nainital and 1,349 in Almora. The state government said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had been pursuing approvals for additional houses under rural and urban housing schemes with the Centre.

PMAY-G was launched in 2016 to provide permanent housing and basic facilities to eligible rural families. Under the scheme, each beneficiary receives Rs. 0.13 mn through direct benefit transfer into a bank account. From FY23, assistance for purchasing kitchen materials and utensils was increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 6,000 per beneficiary.

Beneficiaries also receive Rs. 12,000 for toilet construction through the Swachh Bharat Mission, with support routed through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act or Swajal. They are additionally provided 95 days of wages for house construction under the programme cited by the government.

The housing support includes access to drinking water, LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme and electricity connections. The state government said Uttarakhand had also received national recognition for its performance under PMAY-Urban 2.0. Dhami said efforts were continuing to ensure that every eligible family received the benefits of PMAY-G.
