New kid on the block

In an internal get-together, CCMA introduced to its members, its initial activities, objectives and plans for the future.

The rapid growth in the construction industry and the increasing demand for faster, safer construction is propelling the growth of the construction chemicals industry in India.

The newly formed Construction Chemicals Manufacturers Association (CCMA) recently organised its first internal get-together. The company’s main agenda was to introduce CCMA's initial activities to its members. Over 60 people from the industry attended the seminar.

Key objectives

Samir Surlaker, President, CCMA opened the seminar and explained CCMA’s main aims. The key objective of CCMA is to promote the growth of the construction chemicals industry by raising awareness and quality standards. It also aims to be a representative body for communication with the government, Chamber of Commerce and both local and international regulatory bodies.

The first step

Several steps to attain this goal were outlined in the programme. Seminars will be conducted for applicators all over India and to promote awareness among end users through standardisation and transparency. Another important step is to have the association's identity on construction chemicals. The CCMA will also be represented on various BIS committees relevant to construction chemicals – a proposal that has already received a favourable response.

Guest speakers

The highlights of the evening were the guest speakers' presentations. Anuj Maheshwari of Ultratech RMC gave an overview of the growing RMC industry in India and the benefits of CCMA's association with the company. Saify Attarwalla of Conserve Consultants Pvt Ltd gave the second presentation and highlighted the importance of adhering to green regulations. Attarwalla appealed to the CCMA to ensure that their products are in accordance with the international environmental requirements for VOCs, etc. The discussion at the end gave the audience an insight into the latest construction technologies.

Moving towards tomorrow

Towards the end, the CCMA announced its exclusive seminar on construction chemicals for users, which will be held within a couple of months to promote CCMA’s objectives. The CCMA requests support from the entire industry and its various associations to achieve its aims for the betterment of the construction industry.
