Tekla Structures the Future

Tekla Structures enables an integrated structural design and detailing process that go to make it the ideal solution for the plant industry.

Used worldwide by leading firms for the power generation and industrial process facilities, Tekla Structures enables an integrated structural design and detailing process that drives reduced project delivery times with improved quality, for significant cost savings on projects of any size, regardless of complexity. Tekla models can be shared with major plant design systems such as PDS, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D, during the FEED, detailed design phases, and continued downstream for the creation of steel fabrication deliverables as well as concrete/rebar detailing.

Tekla Structures technology allows: Model structural steel, including connections, ductwork and access equipment; Model concrete, including rebar and embeds; Coordination of structural design with piping and mechanical systems; Working with structural analysis programmes such as STAAD.Pro, GT-Strudl, SAP2000, etc; Creating high quality 2D drawings that update as the model changes ; Generating accurate, detailed BOM’s; Supplying an accurate model to your fabricator or rebar detailer, ready for shop detailing and manufacturing; and allowing the project owner to have full control of the project progress.

The industry leaders who rely on Tekla Structures include Alstom Power, Atomic Energy of Canada , Bechtel, Black & Veatch, CB&I, Foster Wheeler, Hitachi Power, McDermott, Dow Chemical , Saipem, Shaw Power, SNC Lavalin, Westinghouse, L&T MHI.

Structures that are powered by Tekla

Thermal Power Station, WaiGaoQiao, China: Alstom Power Boiler GmbH became familiar with Tekla during the Wai GaoQiao coal power station project in China. Intergraph software was used to plan the systems, and external 2D software was used to handle the parts for the basic engineering.

Power Generation Plant, Huasco, Chile: It is in Huasco that electricity provider Empresa Electrica Guacolda S.A. planned to commence operation of its newly built coal-fired power generation plant. The collaboration partners on the construction of the plant were Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Edyce, which was responsible for on-site fabrication. By jointly accessing data using Tekla Structures, the two firms managed to overcome their respective time differences, distances and language barriers. High-scale precision in terms of PDS data compatibility also made managing the project data, including the piping, all the more effective.
