Karnataka Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS), a state government undertaking, is expanding its technology infrastructure and digital services beyond Bengaluru, with new projects planned in Shivamogga, Mangaluru and Mysuru. The initiatives are intended to strengthen regional technology ecosystems, create employment opportunities and attract investment across the state. KEONICS Chairman Sharath Bachegowda said the projects would use public-private partnership and design, finance, build, operate and transfer models to encourage private-sector participation. In Shivamogga, an IT Park Annex Phase II is being developed on 2.5 acres next to the existing IT Park, while the 36-acre Shivamogga IT Special Economic Zone is being developed as a larger technology destination. In Mangaluru, KEONICS is developing a coastal technology hub, including a 3.25-acre IT Park at Blueberry Hill in Derebail. The organisation is also developing a 3.48-acre IT Park in Mysuru, which is expected to provide commercial infrastructure for emerging technology enterprises and expand the city’s regional technology footprint. The projects build on existing IT Parks in Hubballi, Kalaburagi and Shivamogga. KEONICS is also expanding its work in information technology consulting, system integration, software and IT services, centralised procurement, infrastructure management and technical workforce deployment for government departments and public institutions. Its KEONEXT digital marketplace is designed to support government-to-government procurement and service delivery across information and communication technology goods, IT services, infrastructure, training and technical human resources. KEONICS is modernising its training ecosystem and expanding its Digital Education platform for digital and hybrid learning aimed at students and working professionals. Information Technology, Biotechnology and E-Governance Minister Priyank Kharge said KEONICS had evolved from an electronics promotion agency into an execution partner for Karnataka’s technology ambitions. Established in 1976, the organisation also played a significant role in developing 332 acres for Electronics City and now supports government, industry and citizens through infrastructure, IT services, skilling and digital governance.
