National Meet To Showcase AI/ML For Smarter Power Distribution

A two-day National Conference on the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the power distribution sector under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) will take place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 6–7 December.

Organised by the Ministry of Power, the conference is themed “Harnessing AI/ML for Smart, Efficient and Sustainable Power Distribution”. It will showcase cutting-edge applications such as smart meter data analytics, integrated IT/OT systems and smart home automation, all aimed at driving innovation, improving operational efficiency and enhancing consumer satisfaction across the country’s Distribution Companies (DISCOMs).

The event will demonstrate AI/ML-enabled analytics and practical implementations using smart meter technology and integrated IT/OT systems. It will also encourage broader adoption of advanced technologies including Blockchain, the Internet of Things and smart home automation to strengthen distribution management and advance goals related to operational efficiency, grid reliability and sustainability.

A total of 195 applications were received, of which 51 have been shortlisted to present their technological solutions. Presenters include DISCOMs, Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Providers, Technology Solution Providers and Home Automation Solution Providers. Their solutions will highlight real-world use cases of AI/ML in areas such as demand forecasting, revenue protection, cost optimisation and digital system integration.

The presentations will be evaluated by expert juries from the power and technology sectors, and top entries will be awarded by the Minister of Power, Shri Manohar Lal, on 7 December 2025. The conference will be attended by Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, along with representatives from DISCOMs, AMISPs, TSPs, HASPs, policymakers, academics and officials from the Ministry.
