Peekay Group to develop 3D printing facility at Bengaluru Airport City

Peekay Group has signed an agreement with Bengaluru Airport City (BACL) to develop a 3D printing technology facility at the Airport City, which is being developed in the BLR premises. BACL is an entirely owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport (BIAL).

The company told the media that this facility would accommodate a production centre and an experience zone to learn 3D printing and ideate innovative solutions. Additionally, the facility would be used to train the experts of technology, upgrade skills and increase awareness of several 3D printing applications. It would play an essential role in engaging youngsters in this new era of technology-driven manufacturing.

3D printing, which is also known as additive manufacturing, has wide applications, including construction, aerospace, biotech (human tissue replacement), education, architecture, automotive, military, jewellery and many other fields.

It is estimated that the global 3D market size would reach $62.79 billion by 2028 and is predicted to witness a CAGR of 21.0% from 2021-28.

Mckinsey expects that additive manufacturing can annually have an economic impact of $550 billion by 2025.

3D printing is expected to reduce the carbon footprint significantly, while traditional manufacturing harms the environment.
