Pearey Lall & Sons, formerly Dass Jones, has a manufacturing facility in Sahibabad, with a capacity of 10-12 cranes a month. Khalid Aziz, Vice President-Corporate, Pearey Lall & Sons (EP) Ltd (PLS), shares more on the company´s journey and offerings with SHRIYAL SETHUMADHAVAN.

Take us through your company´s journey.
We are essentially crane manufacturers and started in 1980. We collaborated with Polish company Bumar for truck cranes. We then focused on industrial art cranes, which had a good market in ports, airports and shipyards. We shifted to 20 tonne, 25 tonne and 35-40 tonne rough terrain cranes. We tied up with Escorts and they marketed the products manufactured by us. We were not in the market for 13-14 years. We have rebranded ourselves from Dass Jones in January 2014 and are looking at railways, defence and mining. We have special cranes for railway electrification.

Having completed a year of operation as Pearey Lall & Sons, what´s coming up next? We want to be the leader in this sphere and will soon launch material handling cranes. What is your manufacturing capacity?
Our manufacturing facility in Sahibabad can produce 10-12 cranes a month. We manufactured 8,500 cranes for Escorts, which included pick-and-carry and rough terrain cranes. We will now focus on rough terrain cranes.

What kind of services do you offer along with your products to the customer?
We train the buyers´ personnel and invite customers to our plant to give hands-on training.

How has the market scenario been?
We expect the market to improve in six to seven months. The sentiment is good and we believe that the government will take measures to improve the scenario.
