The Ao Students' Conference (AKM), also known as the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang, has given full endorsement and solidarity to the Ao Senden over the proposed realignment of National Highway 702D (NH-702D). AKM President Lanulemba Longchar and General Secretary Aomayang Longchar issued a statement expressing appreciation of the Ao Senden's preference for an alignment that is shorter, more efficient, economically viable, technically sound and beneficial to the people in the long run. The organisation described the matter as one of long-term public interest rather than a matter for short-term expediency. The AKM has urged the Government of Nagaland and all concerned authorities to give serious and favourable consideration to the proposed Option-IV should the No Objection Certificate not be granted by the concerned stakeholder for Option-III, known locally as British Road or Chungliyimsen. It stated that NH-702D is more than a road project and is a strategic lifeline for the people of Mokokchung and neighbouring districts. Government records identify NH-702D as an approximately 85-km stretch linking Mokokchung with Mariani and the highway plays a crucial role in connecting communities and facilitating the movement of people and goods. The AKM emphasised that final decisions on the realignment must be guided by technical feasibility, road safety, economic efficiency and future connectivity. It added that proper feeder roads connecting villages and rural communities to the national highway must receive equal priority so that the benefits of the project reach the grassroots. The organisation argued that such an approach would support trade, education, healthcare and broader economic activity in the region. AKM expressed appreciation for the Ao Senden's consistent pursuit of the matter and said that transparency, technical objectivity and timely action were essential to prevent further delay in the long-pending project, which it warned would come at the cost of the people and the region's development. The conference reaffirmed its firm solidarity with the Ao Senden and reiterated its commitment to uphold the larger interest of the people and to secure the future of Nagaland.
