In response to another supplementary question from Mizo National Front (MNF) MP from Mizoram, C Lalrosanga, on rail connectivity in the state, Vaishnaw said that in the state of Mizoram, a 51.4 km railway line connecting Bairabi and Sairang has been approved. It will use a railway network to connect Aizwal's capital to the rest of the country. The project is estimated to cost Rs 6,547 crore.

The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed a special emphasis on connectivity in the Northeast since 2014.
