Goa government to review permissions for DLF and Bhutani projects

The Goa government has announced a fresh review of the permissions granted to real estate projects by DLF and Bhutani Infra, following local residents' protests. Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane stated that his department will reassess the approvals for DLF's villa project in Reis Magos, North Goa, and Bhutani Infra's project in Sancoale, South Goa. Permissions will be revoked if any rule violations are found.

Local opposition centres around allegations of significant hill cutting associated with these projects. AAP MLA Venzy Viegas recently visited the DLF site and accused both companies of violating Town and Country Planning laws.

Minister Rane emphasized that his department has not issued any new permissions for hill cutting in the past six months, and ongoing work adheres to previously granted approvals. The state BJP government is considering tightening regulations on hill cutting and will discuss potential legal reforms with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Rane noted that while social media has circulated posts and videos about the alleged hill cutting, verification of permission is essential before any action can be taken.
