Hubballi-Dharwad Civic Body to Conduct an Inspection at Aryabhata Tech Park

The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has decided to conduct an inspection at Aryabhata Tech Park (ATP) to assess how the properties allocated to IT-BT companies are being utilised. Spread over 26 acres, ATP has allocated land to 10 companies in two phases for the development of IT-BT industries. The HDMC has now formed a house panel to verify the park’s land usage.

The move follows allegations of improper land usage by certain companies at ATP, situated near Navanagar. HDMC Mayor Ramanna Badiger initiated the formation of a panel to investigate these claims before deciding on whether to withdraw land allocations.

In total, 10 companies were allocated land at ATP, which spans 26 acres, for developing IT-BT industries. Recently, a company that was allocated land in 2023 requested the cancellation of the allocation, citing unsuitable terrain. HDMC must also assess the withdrawal of land from a company allocated land in 2008-09 for non-utilisation, pending a review of land usage across all companies before any cancellation decisions are made.

During a general body meeting, former mayor Iresh Anchatgeri raised concerns about the inadequate land utilisation by several companies and incomplete operations at ATP, calling for a thorough verification process.

Officials revealed that Diksha Technologies, which received three acres at ?10 lakh per acre in 2008-09, failed to utilise the land and meet the stipulated conditions. While the HDMC administrator moved to cancel the allocation in 2021, the general body voted differently in February.

Another company, Ion Idea Enterprises Solutions Pvt Ltd, requested the cancellation of its land allocation of one acre and 20 gunta, valued at ?97.3 lakh, due to unsuitable terrain.

"We have formed a house committee with three senior HDMC members, including Opposition Leader Raju Kamati, Floor Leader Veeranna Savadi, and former Mayor Iresh Anchatgeri," stated Mayor Ramanna Badiger.
