IEPFA Signs MoU with Prasar Bharati to Boost Investor Awareness

The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Prasar Bharati, the public service broadcaster, to strengthen nationwide investor awareness initiatives. The agreement will deploy informative scroll messages on Doordarshan across national and regional channels to reach diverse audiences. The initiative is intended to ensure critical information on investor protection and safe investing practices is more widely accessible.

The MoU signing event was presided over by Smt Anita Shah Akella, who serves as chief executive officer of the IEPFA and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and she emphasised the importance of collaborative public outreach for promoting financial literacy. She noted that leveraging trusted public broadcasting platforms would help deliver messages to remote and underserved regions. The campaign is designed to support inclusive outreach across demographic and geographic segments.

The collaboration will focus on broadcasting information about the process of reclaiming unclaimed dividends and shares that have been transferred to the IEPFA. It will also encourage investors to use the Search Facility and to file claims through Form IEPF-five where applicable. The scroll messages are intended to provide timely and accurate guidance on fraud prevention and the steps for safe investing. The material will be tailored to plain language formats to aid comprehension among diverse audiences.

The MoU was formally executed by Lt. Col. Aditya Sinha, general manager of the IEPFA, and Sh. Sanjay Prasad, Deputy Director General of Prasar Bharati (Sales), signifying a strategic partnership between the authorities. The initiative will run as an ongoing outreach campaign coordinated between the two organisations. Officials will coordinate schedules and content to maintain consistent messaging across channels. The agreement underscores the IEPFA's commitment to building an informed investor community and promoting financial inclusion through collaboration with public institutions.
