Jammu civic body reviews projects completed by Jammu Smart City

Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Chander Mohan Gupta, chaired a City Level Advisory Forum meet under Jammu Smart City Mission and examined the status of projects being completed by the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) to convert Jammu into a sustainable and economically vibrant city.

Giving a detailed presentation on the works undertaken and made so far, Avny Lavasa, Chief Executive Officer, JSCL, said that the focus of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) is to develop the quality of life of people by allowing local development and providing technology to generate smart outcomes for citizens.

It was notified in the meeting that the chief elements of the Jammu Smart City Project are Solid Waste Management, City Beautification, Road & Parking Improvement, Disaster & Emergency Management, IT Enabled Infrastructure and Civic infrastructure Development.

It was additionally notified in the meeting that the 39 projects of Rs 671.63 crore have been done, and 45 more projects worth Rs 1294.64 crore are at different stages of implementation.

The projects comprising Façade Lighting Illumination of Bahu Fort, Multilevel Parking at Bus Stand, Vertical Garden, and Phase-1 of Wayfinding Signage have been done in a specified time frame and work on other significant projects is in full swing.

The work on Jammu Smart City’s flagship project – the Development of Tawi RiverFront on the lines of Sabarmati River Development Front is going on a war footing. The DPR of the project is under vetting with IIT-Jammu, and the bids will be invited in next week only.

The other vital projects, which are under implementation are Jammu Smart Parking (IT-based Smart Parking), Cycle Tracks at several places, Public Bicycle Sharing – PBS, Modernisation of Narwal Fruit or Vegetable Mandi, Upgradation of Schools into Smart Schools, Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), Modernisation of Old Sabzi Mandi at Parade and Smart Poles at Junctions.
