J&K’s First Gen Z Post Office Opens at AIIMS Vijaypur

Jammu & Kashmir has recently marked a milestone with the inauguration of its first Gen Z Post Office at AIIMS Vijaypur, making it the first AIIMS campus in India to host a Gen Z Post Office. The initiative is part of the Department of Posts programme to modernise campus-based postal services and make them more youth-centric.

The Gen Z Post Office was inaugurated on 17 December 2025 by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Vijaypur, along with senior officials from the Jammu & Kashmir postal circle. Faculty members, staff and students of AIIMS Vijaypur attended the event.

Designed to meet the expectations of Generation Z, the facility features a contemporary ambience, digital payment options and simplified service delivery. It offers integrated access to postal, banking and insurance services under one roof, including awareness of savings schemes and digital banking through India Post Payments Bank.

To commemorate the launch and its status as the first Gen Z Post Office in the Jammu & Kashmir Circle, a special postal cancellation was issued on the inaugural day and applied to all outgoing mail from the campus post office.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment by India Post and AIIMS Vijaypur to innovation, inclusivity and customer-centric service delivery, while strengthening campus-based public services through technology-enabled solutions.
