LTM, part of the Larsen & Toubro (L&T) group, has opened a Global Delivery and AI Competency Centre in Kolkata as it expands its engineering and technology presence in eastern India. The centre forms part of LTM's strategy to broaden its global delivery network and to develop artificial intelligence capabilities closer to Indian talent hubs, the company said in a statement. The facility was inaugurated by the West Bengal chief minister in the presence of Larsen & Toubro chairman and managing director and other senior executives. LTM said the Kolkata centre will support its global delivery operations and AI initiatives while creating opportunities for technology professionals in West Bengal and neighbouring states. The new centre will focus on collaboration, innovation and delivery capabilities for global clients and on developing skills suited to AI-led technologies. The investment underscores the L&T Group's effort to expand its technology footprint beyond traditional hubs and to tap talent in emerging centres across India. Company executives described Kolkata's deep talent pool, academic heritage and growing digital ecosystem as strategic advantages that will support delivery and research activities. The centre is expected to complement LTM's wider delivery network in India as the company invests in regional centres, digital infrastructure and workplaces designed to support its workforce and global customers. State officials welcomed the investment and noted its potential to strengthen the regional technology ecosystem and to create job opportunities for young professionals. The inauguration was attended by senior representatives from the engineering group and by company leadership, reflecting a broader push to place talent and innovation at the heart of the group's technology agenda. LTM said the Kolkata centre will support collaboration between clients, local academia and research partners to accelerate adoption of AI-led solutions.
