Maharashtra budget allocates Rs 527 crore for Shirdi airport terminal

Shirdi airport will get a new passenger terminal for Rs 527 crore, announced DCM Devendra Fadnavis. To accommodate the influx of devotees during the festivities, the pilgrimage site will have increased passenger handling capacity.

A fund of Rs 734 crore will be made available for the acquisition of land for the airport at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (previously known as Aurangabad). The finance minister stated that plans for the expansion of Nagpur International Airport and the construction of a new international airport at Purandar are in the works.

Fadnavis announced a Rs 100 crore fund for the Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) project. He also stated that airport development work was being carried out in Belora, Amravati, and Shivni, Akola.

The state has a number of small airports and airstrips, some of which are used for passenger services with small planes or have flying schools. Sindhudurg, Nanded, Akola, Yavatmal, Solapur, Amravati, Jalgaon, Baramati, Gondia, Karad, Dharashiv (previously known as Osmanabad), Chandrapur, Kolhapur, Nashik, and Shirdi are among the smaller airports.
