Nuvoco Vistas Achieves ESG Rating of 67.1 for FY26

Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd. has secured an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) rating of 67.1 for FY26 from SES ESG Research Private Limited (SES ESG), a SEBI-registered Category II ESG Rating Provider. The assessment is based on the company’s FY2025-26 performance and was updated on August 31, 2026.

The rating evaluated Nuvoco’s performance across environmental, social and governance parameters, including policy disclosures, sustainability targets, initiatives and operational performance under a double-materiality framework.

The assessment highlighted the company’s progress in water stewardship, resource efficiency, circularity and waste management. During FY26, Nuvoco achieved 2.04 times water positivity, maintained zero liquid discharge across all sites and recovered 97.83% of total waste through recycling. The company also improved water consumption intensity to 104.7 litres per tonne of cementitious material from 113 litres in FY25.

Nuvoco continued to strengthen its decarbonisation and circular economy initiatives across manufacturing operations. The company achieved an Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR) ratio of 10% during FY26, compared with 9.6% in the previous year, while co-processing approximately 3.5 lakh tonnes of industrial waste to reduce dependence on conventional fuels.

As part of its green mobility initiatives, Nuvoco expanded the deployment of electric loaders across plants and mines to reduce diesel consumption. The company is targeting an increase in AFR utilisation to nearly 13% in FY27 through improved sourcing, process optimisation and digital interventions.

“Sustainability initiatives require a balance between operational efficiency and environmental responsibility. Our focus remains on increasing alternative fuel usage, improving resource efficiency and reducing dependence on conventional fuels,” said Uma Suryam, Head – Manufacturing (North), Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd.

The company also strengthened sustainability practices across its Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX) operations. During FY26, RMX operations utilised over 1.2 lakh tonnes of alternative raw materials, while the Aqua Debris water recycling system was deployed across 11 RMX plants. This helped increase recycled water usage by 73% to 19.43 litres per cubic metre from 11.24 litres per cubic metre in FY25.

Nuvoco also improved RMX concrete emission intensity from 2.10 kg CO₂ per cubic metre to 2.05 kg CO₂ per cubic metre and planted approximately 1.2 lakh saplings through afforestation and ecosystem restoration initiatives.

The SES assessment recognised improvements in Nuvoco’s social performance, with permanent employee turnover declining to 14.5% from 19.47% in the previous year. The company reported zero fatalities, while human rights training covered 80.52% of employees and 100% of workers during FY26.

On governance parameters, SES noted that Nuvoco’s Board and committee composition remained compliant with applicable regulations, with committee meetings achieving 100% member attendance.

Sustainability remains a key focus area under Nuvoco’s DIRE (Digitalisation, Innovation and Renewables) strategy, covering decarbonisation, circular economy, water conservation, employee well-being and governance practices. The initiatives support the company’s vision of building a safer, smarter and sustainable world.

Alternative Fuels Overtake Petrol As August Retail Peaks

The Indian automobile industry recorded its best-ever August retail as alternative fuels such as compressed natural gas, hybrid and electric vehicles combined overtook petrol in the passenger vehicle segment for the first time. Dealers attributed stronger demand to lower running costs and concerns over the E20 petrol transition. Data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) showed total vehicle retail registrations in August..
