PM Modi inaugurates 3rd land port in Tripura and other projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the virtual inauguration of the 3rd Land Port at Sabroom in South Tripura, reiterated his government's commitment to ensuring housing for every family, providing free ration, safe drinking water, free healthcare, and sustainable internet facilities even in the remotest corners of the country.

While referring to the Northeast, he emphasized that the development of India as a whole is not possible without developing the "Astha Laxmi" (referring to the eight states in the region). To achieve this, the BJP-led government has focused on the Act East Policy, resulting in the transformation of the region into a HIRA (Highway, Internet, Roadways, and Airways) model.

In addition to the modern Land Port in Sabroom to facilitate trade and commerce with Southeast Asian countries through the Chittagong Sea port of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister inaugurated 11 projects in Tripura. These include 1.46 lakh Rural Functional Household Tap Connections, four school buildings, an Eklavya Model Residential School building, and seven other projects for the rehabilitation and upgrading of roads worth more than Rs 24 billion.

Furthermore, he laid the foundation for 12 projects, including the Agartala Government Dental College Building, a 200-bedded Maternal Child Health wing at Agartala Govt Medical College, the Western Bypass of Agartala, the improvement and widening of NH-208, strengthening & improvement of riding quality of four roads, an Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicted in Sepahijala district, PM Ekta Mall Building for expanding trade and commerce, Installation of Solar Micro Grids in renewable energy, and a new depot at Sekerkote in the petroleum sector worth around Rs 61 billion.

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said, ?After 2018, the political scenario in Tripura has changed under the leadership of PM Modi. We are waiting for making Maitri Setu ? connecting the state to the Chittagong sea port at a 70 km distance operational, by which Tripura will become the gateway of Southeast Asia.?

After Akhaura and Srimantapur Integrated Check Post (ICP), Sabroom LP is the biggest one for the region, allowing Northeast India and other states easy access to the Chittagong port. This is all possible due to Modi's efforts for the overall development of the region, Dr Saha underlined, adding, ?We feel proud of having a guardian who is moving the country forward.?

He mentioned about Rs 2.5 bn spent for Sabroom Land Port, Rs 7.32 bn for tap water, Rs 480 mn for Eklavya Model Residential School in Rupaichari and Karbook in Gomati district, Rs 1.54 bn for rehabilitation & up gradation of Road from Kailashahar - Kurti Bridge section on NH-208A, Rs 2.51 bn for rehabilitation and up-gradation of road from Manu - Lalchara Section on NH-44A.

"Join industry leaders at RAHSTA Expo, India's premier platform for roads, highways and traffic infrastructure. Register now to explore innovations, network with experts and shape the future of mobility."
