PM To Inaugurate Bhogapuram International Airport On August One

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Bhogapuram International Airport (BIA) on August one, the state government announced. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the airport will transform the North Andhra region's economic landscape and create new opportunities that will significantly improve socio?economic conditions. The announcement described the inauguration as a landmark event for the state and as part of wider efforts to boost regional growth. Authorities indicated arrangements are being prepared for a grand inauguration ceremony.

The airport project was initiated during the Telugu Desam Party government in 2014 and was expedited by the present NDA coalition government, with completion achieved within two years. The state administration has been organising logistics, security and ceremonial arrangements ahead of the scheduled opening. As part of preparations the Chief Minister conducted a high?level review meeting to assess readiness and co?ordinate agency responsibilities. Officials are finalising transport links and passenger handling systems.

Naidu said Bhogapuram International Airport will be a game changer for development across North Andhra and will generate employment, investment and ancillary economic activity. Beyond providing improved connectivity the airport will act as a catalyst for tourism and industrial development in the coastal belt. It is intended to serve as a hub for the Visakhapatnam Economic Region and to integrate with existing transport and port infrastructure. Comparisons were drawn with the transformation seen around Shamshabad International Airport and Hyderabad.

The state government indicated the facility will facilitate greater movement of people and goods, support supply chains and enhance the region's appeal to investors. Stakeholders from tourism, industry and local government are being engaged to plan for follow?on investments and skills development. The inauguration on August one is intended to mark a new phase of infrastructure?led growth for North Andhra and the government has underlined its commitment to ensure smooth operationalisation of the airport. Preparations will continue until the opening.
