PMRDA to Seek Cancellation of Opposed TP Schemes

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will recommend cancelling town planning (TP) schemes in villages where farmers meet specified conditions while opposing the proposed Inner Ring Road in Maval taluka. The authority announced the measure after a meeting with local representatives and farmers at its headquarters in Akurdi on Monday, 19 October.

The meeting at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hall was attended by sarpanchs, elected representatives and farmers from Salumbre, Darumbre, Godumbre, Parandwadi, Dhamane and Sangwade. Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary outlined the steps that would follow objections raised by participants from the villages.

Under the proposed arrangement, PMRDA will send recommendations to the state government where the relevant gram panchayat has passed a resolution opposing a TP scheme and at least 50 per cent of farmers are against it. The announcement did not specify when the recommendations would be submitted or when the state government would decide on them.

The authority also clarified the road’s alignment and land requirements. The Inner Ring Road will have a width of 65 metres under the Regional Plan, instead of the original 110-metre alignment. PMRDA said adopting the narrower width would avoid additional land acquisition, while the 65-metre alignment would be incorporated into its Structural Plan.

Following the change, revised zone certificates will be issued without the existing reference to a 110-metre width. Farmers whose land is acquired will receive cash compensation based on the applicable valuation, while those providing voluntary consent will be eligible for additional compensation under the rules. PMRDA also said areas adjoining the road would be designated as a Development Zone through the Structural Plan and subsequent detailed plans.
