Prayagraj Airport undergoes major upgrade for Maha Kumbh-2025

The Prayagraj airport is undergoing significant enhancements, thanks to a substantial allocation of approximately Rs 1.73 billion by the state government. Development work is now in progress, aimed at transforming the airport into an international-standard facility. The current upgrades focus on expanding both passenger and aircraft capacities.

At present, the airport's lobby can accommodate 350 passengers simultaneously. After renovations and expansions, this number will increase to over 650, providing a more spacious environment for travellers. A robust security plan has been implemented, ensuring constant surveillance without causing inconvenience to passengers. This strategic approach guarantees 24x7 oversight of the lobby area.

Additionally, the airport's aerobridges are being upgraded. From the existing two, the airport will boast six aerobridges after 15 months of enhancement work, making it the first airport in Uttar Pradesh to have such a feature. These improvements are specifically geared towards accommodating the influx of tourists and pilgrims, both domestic and international, during the upcoming Maha Kumbh in 2025.

The ambitious expansion project is set to be completed within 15 months, in time for the Maha Kumbh-2025. Construction has already begun on a new building that will connect to the main terminal, marking a significant step in the airport's transformation.
