TRAI Reviews Mobile Network Quality In Trichy

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has recently released the findings of its Independent Drive Tests (IDT) conducted across Trichy City and adjoining areas in the Tamil Nadu Licensed Service Area to assess real-world mobile network performance. The assessment, carried out in December 2025, covered urban zones, institutional hotspots and surrounding residential areas.

The tests included 371.3 km of drive routes, 5.1 km of walk tests and seven hotspot locations, evaluating 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G services of Airtel, BSNL, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea. Key parameters analysed included call setup success rate, drop call rate, speech quality, download and upload speeds, and latency.

Results indicated strong overall performance by Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea across most voice and data parameters, while BSNL lagged on several metrics, particularly in signal strength and data speeds. The detailed findings have been shared with the concerned telecom service providers for necessary corrective action and service improvement.
