Abhijit Gupta has been appointed as the Head of Indian operations, CASE Construction Equipment. In his new role, Gupta leads the entire industrial and commercial operations of the company in India. He brings over 25 years of experience in supplier relations, new product component development, product cost management, supply chain management and supplier quality in various sectors including construction, agriculture, earthmoving, passenger car and material handling.

Dalmia Bharat Ltd recently announced the appointment of Mahendra Singhi as Group CEO-Cement. With a rich and diverse experience of 36 years in the cement sector, he joins Dalmia Cement from Shree Cement where he served for 19 years and was the Executive Director.

CREDAI Conclave 2013
CREDAI organised its regional Mumbai chapter at Palladium Hotel, Mumbai. The theme for the event was ´Housing: the game changer; leading to double digit growth´. It aimed at finding ways to maximise the potential of the housing sector for it to be a growth propeller for India.

Acetech marvel
Emaar MGF Land, inaugurated the ACETECH 2013 event at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event was specially dedicated to the fast moving construction business in Asia, especially India. This was a common platform for the architect, construction and engineering fraternity to showcase their out-of-the-box work and share ideas with each other.

Doctor of honour
Anand J Gupta, General Secretary, Builder´s Association of India, has been conferred with a degree of Doctor of Honours (Construction Industries) by the Open International University at Colombo.

At the special Colombo Conclave held in Sri Lanka, Dr Sir JV Ligotzky, Vice Chancellor of the University and Prof Dr Sir Georgios Angelinakis, International Director of the University handed over the certificate to Gupta. The honour is bestowed upon a person who has contributed immensely to the development of an industry.

Indo-Chinese relations
Dr Liu Youfa, Consul General of the People´s Republic of China, recently attended an interactive meeting with the Standing Committee of People´s Congress of Hubei Province, China, that was organised by MVIRDC World Trade Centre Mumbai and All India Association of Industries. Exploring opportunities in the country he stated, ´The Indo-Chinese bilateral trade is in favour of China. It is vital that the two economies identify more tradeable goods to further prospective exchange of goods and services. The two nations must form JVs to explore areas of individual expertise. ´

Awards bagged!
Tata Steel has been recently conferred with the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award, 2013 in ´Category A´ for Large Independent Companies at the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2013, held in New Delhi. The company received these recognition for its exemplary performance and contribution in the economic, social and environmental segment of its business.

The innovative concept of the Liebherr-PowerBoom for large crawler cranes has received the Design Award from the International Construction Equipment Forum. The competition was for innovative components and part-systems for construction machinery, which have been in the market since January 2012.

Chemtrols Solar has won the Intersolar Award 2013 for the best mega watt scale project in India for its 1 MW PV-Diesel hybrid power plant installed on the roof of the spinning mill of Alpine Knits. The 1 MW solar plant was designed, engineered and constructed by the Mumbai-based company.

The Builders Association of India, Pune Chapter, recently felicitated Kumar Gera, Chairman, Gera Developments, with the Padmashri BG Shirke Lifetime Achievement Award-Nirman Ratna for his contribution to the industry and excellence in civil engineering and construction.
