To boost ´logistics efficiency´, the Centre intends to develop economic corridors and is planning to create logistic parks on national highways at identified locations, in partnership with the state governments. This task has been entrusted to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The plan entails development of Rs 3 lakh crore economic corridor projects to develop 35,000 km of highways for faster movement of freight. The economic corridors include Mumbai-Cochin-Kanyakumari, Bangalore-Mangalore, Hyderabad-Panaji and Sambalpur-Ranchi to name a few. Once completed, the project would reduce travel time and logistics costs.
