Commercial Operations Begin at Logistics Park in Nagpur

The Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Sindi near Wardha in Nagpur has officially commenced commercial operations, receiving its first cargo consignment of 123 Maruti cars from Farukhnagar on April 28. Developed by National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), the park spans 150 acres and is being built at a total cost of Rs 6.73 Bn.

The project is being executed under a public-private partnership model in three phases, with Phase I requiring an investment of Rs 1.37 Bn. A special purpose vehicle, Maharashtra MMLP Pvt Ltd, has been formed by NHLML and JNPA to oversee the project, including the provision of land, road and rail connectivity, and basic infrastructure like water and electricity.

The park is equipped with warehousing, cold storage, container handling, bulk cargo facilities, bonded warehouses, and customs support. It also includes terminals for trucks and offices for freight forwarders. The MMLP is expected to significantly enhance last-mile connectivity, reduce freight travel time, and improve tracking and traceability, ultimately bolstering the national logistics sector and generating regional employment.
