Odisha gives priority to SHDP

Odisha government has directed its Works Department to prioritise the State Highway Development Programme (SHDP) to push up infrastructural development in the state. The State Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra has asked Department to give priority to road projects in LWE districts in the state.

The State Works Department has been asked to prepare monthly work plans against each road project and accomplish the target each month. Mohapatra was reviewing the progress of SHDP. The review reveals that the State government has envisaged a new scheme named SHDP to improve all State High Ways to 2 lane standards.

Target has been set to improve 2,158 kms of road with a cost involvement of around Rs 3,000 crore during 12th Plan period. It has been decided that the projects will be undertaken either on P1 Contract basis, or on EPC mode depending upon the project cost. A project management cell ( PMC) will be set up to manage and monitor the projects under SHDP scheme.
