Visakhapatnam Port will dismantle 80 year old East Quay-3, 4 and 5 and part of EQ-2 berths to construct two multi-purpose berths to handle Panamax vessels. The port has invited global bids for the development of multi-purpose terminal under PPP mode as part of landlord port policy. The construction of new berths, to be taken up one after another and the required mechanisation and equipment would cost around Rs 600 crore. With the new berths having quay length of 600 m, it will enable the port to receive two Panamax vessels simultaneously
